These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of gry (“the app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By using gry, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the app.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use gry. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to:

• •Provide accurate information when creating your account (email, username)
• •Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
• •Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
• •Not share your account with others or create multiple accounts

You may sign in using Email, Google, or Apple Sign-In. Each authentication method is subject to the respective provider's terms of service.

Respectful Use

gry is a community for sharing food with friends. You agree to use gry respectfully and in accordance with these terms. This means treating other users with kindness and posting content that's appropriate for a food-sharing community.

Your Content

You own the photos you upload. When you post meal photos to gry, you retain all ownership rights to your content. By posting, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to:

• •Display your photos to friends you've chosen to share with
• •Display public posts on your profile page (if you opt-in to global sharing)
• •Store your content on Firebase Storage to provide the service
• •Send your meal images to OpenAI for AI-powered food identification
• •Create anonymized, de-identified versions of your meal images for use in training and improving machine learning models for food recognition and nutritional analysis

Anonymized Image Data: By using gry, you agree that we may create anonymized copies of your meal images, stripped of all personally identifiable information, for the purpose of training and improving AI models. Anonymized images cannot reasonably be linked back to you. This license to use anonymized data survives account deletion.

You may delete your content at any time, which will remove it from our servers. Your posts may include:

• •Photos (one or more per post)
• •Meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, dessert, drink)
• •Optional caption, calories, and ingredients
• •Visibility setting (global or friends-only)

Device Permissions

To use gry's features, you may grant the following permissions:

• •Camera (required for posting) - to capture meal photos
• •Photo Library (optional) - to select existing photos
• •Contacts (optional) - to find friends on gry. Contact data is processed locally only and never stored on our servers
• •Notifications (optional) - for meal reminders and friend post alerts

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• •Harass, bully, or threaten other users
• •Post spam, advertisements, or unwanted content
• •Impersonate others or create fake/misleading accounts
• •Share inappropriate, offensive, violent, or illegal content
• •Attempt to hack, exploit, or compromise the app's security
• •Use automated tools or bots to access the service
• •Use the app for commercial purposes without permission
• •Violate any applicable laws or regulations

Content Moderation

We reserve the right to review, remove, or disable access to content that violates these terms or that we find objectionable. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate our rules. Users can report content or accounts they believe violate these terms.

Social Features

gry includes social features that allow you to:

• •Add and remove friends
• •Star friends to receive notifications when they post
• •Like and comment on friends' posts
• •Control visibility of your posts (global vs friends-only)

You are responsible for your interactions with other users. We do not guarantee the accuracy of information provided by other users.

App Updates

We may update, change, or discontinue features of gry at any time without prior notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time through Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion:

• •Your account and profile will be permanently removed
• •All your posts, photos, and data will be deleted
• •This action cannot be undone

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without prior notice.

Third-Party Services

gry uses the following third-party services to operate:

• •Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage) - for account management, data storage, and photo hosting
• •Amplitude - for usage analytics
• •Expo - for push notification delivery
• •Google OAuth / Apple Sign-In - for authentication
• •RevenueCat - for subscription and in-app purchase management
• •OpenAI - for AI-powered meal image analysis and food identification

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

Subscriptions & Purchases

gry may offer premium features through paid subscriptions managed via RevenueCat and processed through the Apple App Store. By subscribing, you agree to:

• •Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
• •Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• •You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings
• •Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policies

AI Features

gry uses OpenAI to analyze meal images for food identification. When you use AI features, your meal images are transmitted to OpenAI for processing. Calorie and nutritional information is sourced from the USDA FoodData Central database.

AI-generated results are estimates and may not be accurate. You should not rely on AI-provided information for medical, dietary, or health decisions.

Disclaimer

gry is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Your use of the app is at your own risk.

Any nutritional information (calories, ingredients) entered by users is not verified by us and should not be relied upon for dietary or medical decisions.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the app.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless gry and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the app, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of another person or entity.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app shall be resolved in the courts located in California.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means. Your continued use of gry after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
